Stamps
Thousands of stamps, all my dad's. I couldn't throw them out, so I started arranging them by colour.
My dad collected stamps his whole life: all Dutch, plus a pile of random foreign ones picked up on eBay. When he passed, I inherited the lot. Sold most of it, kept a stupid amount. Beatrix kept coming back: decades on the throne means decades of editions, and they're colourful. Enough doubles that colour-coding them into a gradient was the obvious move: The Bea Fade, mounted on foam board and lacquered, 2020. When the doubles ran out, the rest went pop-art: vertical colour lines, more soundwave than philately. Big Bea Lines, framed, 2020. The wildest foreign stamps, from places my dad never visited, ended up hand-placed on canvas: The Big Wild, 80 x 120cm. Not a tribute I planned. Just what was left of him, sorted by colour.
